What is the difference between three way and two way in common plug valves?
Time: 2024/01/10 View:222

The plug valve is a common valve used to control fluids and is widely used in various industrial fields. Common plug valves can be divided into three and two ways according to their structure. There are some differences between them in structure and function.

First, the most significant difference is the shape and structure. The shape of the three-way plug valve is T-shaped, with one pipe as an inlet and outlet and the other two pipes as an outlet. The shape of the two-way plug valve is simpler, with only one inlet and outlet pipe. From a structural point of view, the three-way plug valve usually has two cock bodies and a rotating shaft of the cock body, which can be rotated to control the flow between the three pipes, while the two-way plug valve has only one cock body and a rotating shaft.

Secondly, the functions of the three-way plug valve are more diverse. Because the three-way plug valve has the connection of three pipes, it can be used to control the mixing, diverting, merging and other operations between two inlet fluids and one outlet fluid. Three-way plug valves are commonly used in systems where fluid speed, pressure and temperature need to be controlled, such as heating, water supply and cooling systems. Two-way plug valves are more commonly used in operations that divert one inlet fluid between two outlets, or combine two inlet fluids into one outlet.

In addition, three-way plug valves are more expandable than two-way plug valves. In some systems where multiple fluid outputs need to be controlled, three-way plug valves can achieve additional connections and controls by adding accessories and fittings, etc., to achieve more complex control requirements. The two-way plug valve is relatively simple and generally does not have too many expanded functions.

Finally, the two-way plug valve has higher accuracy and stability in performance than the three-way plug valve. Because the two-way plug valve only needs to control the connection between the two fluids, the fluid passage in operation is simpler, the flow path is more direct, and the control of the fluid is more accurate. The three-way plug valve involves the connection between three fluids, and the channel is more complex, so the accuracy and stability of the control may be slightly insufficient.

In summary, there are some differences between the three-way plug valve and the two-way plug valve in terms of structure, function, expansibility and performance. According to the actual control requirements and system design requirements, the appropriate plug valve type can be selected to achieve the best fluid control effect.
